Nasser Hussain, the former captain of England, may be pleased by how well the Indian squad handled Jasprit Bumrah's absence at Edgbaston, and now the star pacer will be ready for the Lord's Test. The selectors and team management have already decided that Bumrah, who took a five-wicket haul in Leeds, will only participate in three of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Tests. In spite of a seven-day break between the first two games, Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir chose to give him a rest for the Edgbaston match.

The decision to rest Bumrah on Day 1 sparked considerable criticism from fans and experts alike, with many people questioning the timing. Nonetheless, in the pace spearhead's absence, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep excelled, stepping up admirably. Their outstanding performances both vindicated the team management's choice and silenced the skeptics. The decision to manage Bumrah's workload turned out to be a masterstroke as India won decisively.

India will enter the Lord's Test with the trump card in Bumrah, who will be eager to have his name on the Honors Board, Hussain said.

"You get the impression that India handled it well. The fact that they left out Jasprit Bumrah and the question of how they would be able to win 20 wickets without Bumrah were two of the things people were critical about. Well, they have accomplished that on a very flat surface in Edgbaston. "Now, after two weeks of break, they have their trump card coming in on a ground (Lord's) that he has bowled well at before and a ground at which he wants to get on the Honours Board," Hussain said on Sky Sports' podcast.

The weariness of "Stokes" is accompanied by more than just on-field symptoms

The former English captain added that the Lord's match will be a major test for Ben Stokes as he tries to choose the best bowling lineup with Gus Atkinson and Jofra Archer back in the team.

"England must either enter with weary bowlers or, if they leave their tired bowlers out, they must come in with two bowlers who have either not played recently in Gus Atkinson or have not played a Test match in four years in Jofra Archer. Tiredness affects Stokes both on and off the field. You should never underestimate that aspect of leading a Test team. Because of all the queries regarding Bumrah for Edgbaston, Shubman Gill would have been at the center of it all, he said.
