According to the Los Angeles Chargers' website, the team has never seen running back Najee Harris in person since the incident on July 4 in Antioch, California, that caused his reported eye injury.
The team also provided further information about when they anticipate Harris will be back on the field and said that, at the beginning of training camp season, they intend to place him on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.
An update on Najee Harris's eye injury from the Chargers
Joe Hortiz, the general manager of the Chargers, provided an update on Harris's recovery on Wednesday (July 16) afternoon, noting that he had been in "good spirits" and that "everything that has been relayed to us is positive." He is now receiving therapy for the injury at Stanford.
"Our doctors haven't seen him yet, and neither have we. He's finishing up his doctor's appointments and will report back today. We'll get our eyes on him," Hortiz said. "Surface-level injury, obviously around the eye, so I'm sure there's bruising and all that. However, we haven't met him. Although we are in contact with the doctors there, we will have a clearer picture once he arrives and our doctors examine him.
Additionally, Hortiz disclosed that although the team has not seen Harris in person since his injury, Marco Zucconi, the Chargers' Director of Player Health, Wellness, and Performance, has been given all the information for his recovery program.

Marco is in contact. Marco has been contacting the doctor every time [Najee Harris] returns to the office. The data is then sent down to me after our doctors have spoken with theirs," he said.
Currently, the team intends to include Harris to the NFL list at the start of camp season. Hortiz stated, "I think coming in, the plan is to probably put him on NFL. Nothing is set in stone, but probably put him on NFI to begin with. Let him get himself ready, then he'll get out there."
