In their crucial NBA Finals encounter on June 22, the Oklahoma City Thunder utterly beat the Indiana Pacers. A few games ago, Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton had reported a strain in his right calf, but he insisted on playing and winning the championship.

Haliburton's fall while attempting to make a basket in the first quarter was a significant setback for the sport of basketball. The Pacers' point guard was rushed to the locker room by medical personnel as he was deemed unable to continue the game due to an Achilles injury on his foot and nine points in his bag. In a crushing 103-92 defeat, the Thunder ultimately defeated the Pacers.

In the wake of the tragedy, condolences and disbelief began to flood in. To convey his astonishment and displeasure at the time, former Finals MVP champion LeBron James responded with "F**K !!!!!!!!," accompanied by two emoticons.

Pat McAfee, a sports expert, paid tribute to the injured player by tagging him and saying, "we appreciate the hell out of you man." After a distinguished 22-year career in the NBA, Vince Carter wrote, "Damn man smh" with three emoticons of folded hands to express his disappointment.

"Awwwws Damn! @TyHaliburton22 is down. @TyHaliburton22 is down. Oh no! Nobody wants to see this. We don't want a title chosen in this manner, particularly given how he was performing! Ah, damn!," said Stephen Smith, a sports television star.

The circumstance prompted supporters of the sport to voice their outrage on social media as well. In the 2024–25 postseason, Haliburton averaged 17.3 points, while during the regular season, he averaged 18.6 points before leaving Game 7 early. USA Today claims that Haliburton's injury may also prevent him from participating in the 2025–26 campaign.
