In the NBA Finals Game 7 between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, Tyrese Haliburton played through his calf injury. Haliburton persevered despite his discomfort to star in what could be the highlight of his career, as the two teams competed for a historic title. But NBA experts warned that the All-Star point guard may be jeopardizing his long-term health.

However, Haliburton suffered a significant scare when he fell and was clearly in discomfort during the first quarter. Whether it was a recurrence of a previous injury or a recent hit is unknown. Earlier in the series, the 25-year-old had an ankle injury, and he now has a calf problem as well, though it's unclear if the two are connected.

"It's the NBA Finals. I've worked my entire life to be here. If I can walk, then I want to play," he had said earlier in the series.

However, Shams Charania of ESPN voiced worries regarding Haliburton's injury. The reporter mentioned that the strain is a "multi-week" injury that requires adequate care. The chance of making the injury worse or even causing more serious muscle or tendon damage is increased by playing through it.

Late in the first quarter of Game 5, Haliburton limped back to the bench area with a wrap covering his lower leg. He not only made a comeback, but he also played for 34 minutes, during which he failed to make a single one of his six shots and hardly even attempted to shoot in the second half. He only scored four points in the game, but he also recorded six assists and seven rebounds.

In his whole career, this was the first time Haliburton played at least 34 minutes without scoring a single field goal.

According to Carlisle, the Pacers debated whether to prevent Haliburton from playing in the second half. Haliburton rejected those ideas and, after the break, led the Pacers in rebounds and assists while playing for 17 minutes in the second half.

"I have a great deal of faith in our medical team. Haliburton stated, "I have a lot of confidence in our organization to make the right choice. I believe that throughout my career, there have been many instances when they have trusted me on my body. ... I want to be out there. That is the strategy.
