The millions of dollars in wages paid to each player as a result of winning an NBA Finals is far more than just fame and honor. In the lead-up to the series finale on Sunday, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers have shown an intriguing progression. Both teams now have a chance to win the prize money they would be eligible for if they were to win this weekend. However, what is the exact amount of this payment?

The Mirror reports that over the course of the postseason, $34.7 million is split among athletes from every NBA playoff team. Each player's earnings have increased by a notable $1 million from the previous year. A team's placement in the tournament determines how much additional money it earns. The NBA Finals award winners $8,805,000 and runner-ups $3,803,000.

If the Pacers are victorious

As a result of their performance, the Pacers have already earned $372,000 to their credit after placing fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 50-32 record. As a reward for making it to the Finals and surviving the Eastern Conference playoffs, this amount has increased to $1.99 million. If they were to win the title, their total earnings from the championship would amount to $10.8 million. If the Thunder were to close out, this sum might fall to $5.79 million. The squad, however, would have $7.42 million to divide among its players if they were to win Game 7 as well, due to winning two games consecutively.

In the event of a Thunder victory

If the Thunder were to win the championship, reports indicate that their earnings might be a little bit more than the Pacers'. The squad has already earned an $869,345 reward for being the top scorer among 30 teams because of their outstanding regular-season position in the playoffs. They also earned $761,000 more for their performance in the Western Conference and an additional $1.99 million for making it to the championship. The Thunder would earn the highest possible prize of $12.42 million, or $828,000 for each player, if they were to win.

On Sunday, June 22, at 7 PM ET, the NBA Finals Game 7 will be live streamed on ABC and Fubo.
