For the forthcoming Test series against England, former Australia captain Michael Clarke believes India should use Sai Sudharsan in the No. 3 slot. The No. 4 position in India's Test lineup has been left with a difficult vacancy to fill since Virat Kohli's departure, and Shubman Gill, the recently named captain, has risen to the top of the list to take on that role. Now that India anticipates Gill moving down to number four, it is imperative that a trustworthy candidate be found to fill the number three slot, which he has dominated for the last few years.

Clarke urged India to employ Sai Sudharsan in the critical number three slot since he is sure that the left-handed batter will have a chance on the England tour.

"Sai Sudharsan, this kid is a superstar to me. In my opinion, he is the third best player in Test cricket. I believe he will likely start the batting in India's T20I and ODI squad in time. He is a member of their test squad. In England, he has his first opportunity.

Sudharsan's dream IPL season saw him win the Orange Cap for scoring 759 runs in 15 games at an average of 54.21, with a strike rate of 156.17, a century, and six fifties. In addition to defeating competition from Priyansh Arya, Noor Ahmad, and other young players, the left-handed hitter also took home the Emerging Player of the Year award.

"Sai Sudharan can go right into the number three spot in the lineup."

Clarke was completely won over by Sudharsan's IPL performance, emphasizing his strong approach and capacity for high scoring with little risk.

"I believe he can walk right in and play number three. Technically, he's excellent, in my opinion; he has all the shots and is mentally prepared. On the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke stated, "He really impressed me and he's a good looking player as well."

But Karun Nair, who batted in the same position and hit a fantastic double century in the first match of the India A tour to England, has made a strong argument to bat at the number 3 slot.

Sai Sudharsan and Gill were among those who were anticipated to participate in the second four-day match, but they were unable to do so due to their IPL obligations. Prior to the inaugural Test in Leeds, the pair would only have the intra-squad match to acclimate.
