With his record-breaking seventh victory at Norway Chess, Magnus Carlsen once again demonstrated that he is the GOAT. Fabiano Caruana came in second with 15.5 points, while D Gukesh came in third with 14.5 points, and Carlsen took the tournament with 16 points. At the same time, Hikaru Nakamura earned 14 points to finish fourth, while Arjun Erigaisi came in fifth with 13 points. Additionally, Wei Yi, the Chinese GM, placed sixth with 9.5 points.

With a current Elo rating of 2837, Carlsen is more than 30 points ahead of Nakamura, who is ranked second.

In his post-tournament interview at Norway Chess, Carlsen was requested to choose his replacement. His response was harsh: "There is no one." Currently, there is no one. The truth is, that's the answer. It might be, but it's not very probable right now.

Referring to the younger generation as children, he continued, "At the moment, I still believe that the older guys are better." Every single one of the youngsters' games has glaring flaws.

"I think Gukesh demonstrated in this tournament that he is on track, that he is doing fantastically, but perhaps not as far ahead of track as we may have imagined," he said, highlighting Gukesh.

"I believe he's in the same place I was around 2008, 2009, where he excels, but you can still see that the excellent results are due to a combination of the high caliber of positional play and a strong fighting spirit. You aren't expected to have mastered everything at that age; that's what children are meant to do. Regarding the others, yeah, they're alright, but I don't see one of them becoming a clear number one at this time, he continued.

Additionally, Carlsen gave the 14-year-old Turkish GM Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus high accolades, calling him "extremely good."
