Following a period of comparative silence following the conclusion of IPL 2025, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has returned to the public eye thanks to his recent induction into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. Following the Chennai Super Kings' season finale, Dhoni had exercised caution in discussing his IPL future, leaving the door open for a potential comeback for the following campaign.

Following the IPL, Dhoni maintained his customary social media silence upon his return to Ranchi, continuing to shroud his personal life in mystery as usual. His induction into the ICC Hall of Fame, though, has brought him back into the public eye.

Five men's cricketers were added to the list, including former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori, the South African pair of Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla, and Australian batting legend Matthew Hayden, joining Dhoni. Former England wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor and ex-Pakistan captain Sana Mir were also admitted to the exclusive club.

The president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), Ajay Nath Shahdeo, honored Dhoni for his illustrious legacy and induction into the elite list.

"Warmest congratulations to #Mahi @mahi7781 on his induction into the #ICCHallOfFame! Was fortunate enough to meet him and celebrate this amazing accomplishment. In an Instagram post, Shahdeo shared a picture from the meeting and wrote, "Wishing #Mahi continued success and adoration from fans all over the world!"

Dhoni's legacy acknowledged by ICC

During his tenure as Test captain, Dhoni guided India through 60 games, winning 27, losing 15, and drawing 18. He established an Indian record in the ODI format by leading 200 games and winning 110 and losing 74. Additionally, he commanded five ODIs that ended in a tie, and eleven that had no outcome.

With 10 hundreds and 73 fifties, Dhoni, a famed finisher in ODIs, amassed 10,773 runs in 350 games at an average of 50.57.

He scored 4,876 runs in 90 Tests at a little over 38 with six tons and 33 fifties, while Dhoni scored 1,617 runs in 98 T20Is at 37.60 with two fifties.

After entering the ICC Hall of Fame, Dhoni responded by saying he would cherish it for the rest of his life.

"Being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, which celebrates the contributions of cricketers throughout generations and from all over the world, is an honor. Being associated with such legendary figures is a fantastic experience. In an ICC press statement, Dhoni stated, "It is something that I will always value."
