Vaibhav Suryavanshi is only fourteen, but he's already grabbing attention. The Bihar youngster, who became famous this year for his record-breaking IPL century, is now gaining followers during India's U19 tour of the UK. The left-hander has been busy signing autographs and posing for selfies in between games in Beckenham, where the first Youth Test was held, attracting crowds from the Indian diaspora and local residents.

It has been impossible to ignore Suryavanshi's influence, despite being shielded from the press so that he might concentrate. His outstanding desire for runs and aggressive attitude have made him the focus of attention on the tour. Indeed, Kumar Sangakkara, who is working as a broadcaster for India's senior men's team during their current series against England, also discussed Suryavanshi's rise in Indian cricket.

Sangakkara is now the director of cricket operations for the Rajasthan Royals, the team that Suryavanshi plays for in the IPL. The former Sri Lankan captain discussed the circumstances surrounding the 14-year-old's appeal to RR for the auction.

"Vaibhav Suryavanshi had already proven to be a very special talent. In 2023, one of Rajasthan Royals' analysts texted saying, 'there's a very special player we need to watch, get to the trials and look to sign'," Sangakkara told Sky Sports Cricket.

"I first watched him play live in the nets in Guwahati, where he was facing Jofra Archer and the other seamers we had, after we had signed him. And he made it seem very, very simple. He had plenty of time.

Before making his tournament debut, Suryavanshi's photographs of himself facing Archer in the nets went viral. In his second game, the youngster scored the quickest century in IPL history.

Sangakkara on Suryavanshi's hitting

The young man's amazing hitting talents that caught the Sri Lankan legend's attention were discussed by him at length.

"Every time he made touch with the ball, his bat made a gunshot-like sound." His bat swing is beautiful and extends far outside the off-stump. And it flows really well. Sangakkara stated that he has plenty of time, his motions are really, really basic and minimal, and he is quite excited about expanding his arsenal of shots.

He also possesses all the attributes of a successful T20 batsman. This is only the beginning for him. He will improve even further, and hopefully, he will become exceptionally unique.
