Kumar Sangakkara Criticizes Harry Brook’s Attitude Against Akash Deep: “That’s Arrogance, Not Bazball”

Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara didn't hold back in his criticism of Harry Brook for losing his wicket on the fourth day of the Lord's Test against India on Sunday. With a pre-planned aggressive strategy, the right-handed batsman, who is currently ranked first in the ICC Rankings, came out and hit Akash Deep for two fours and a six in the same over. But because the Indian pacer, who had ten wickets in the previous Edgbaston Test, ultimately bowled him out, his strategy did not work out for him for very long.
Brook executed a planned sweep off the bowling of Akash Deep. The ball was thrown high and angled directly at the stumps. As the ball squeezed through to strike the middle stump, the English batsman leaned across to sweep the delivery, but he was ultimately bowled behind his legs.
Given the way Akash Deep was treated by the Indian pacer some overs ago, his response was not unexpected, and he celebrated in style. After hitting 23 runs off 19 balls, Brook finally returned to the pavilion.
Brook ought to have taken a more intelligent strategy, according to Sangakkara, who was on television at the time. Additionally, he blamed the batter's arrogance for his dismissal.
"He wanted to go square, and I wonder if they've changed fine leg fine. That's not a scoop. "He plays the scoop with ease, and this is a sweep, normally played off a spinner, and that was way too much room," said Sangakkara.
“Lunch in 15 minutes, the counteroffensive has begun. He continued, "This is not intelligent batting."
“This isn’t Bazball”
Additionally, Sangakkara slammed England's excessively aggressive strategy on the morning of Day 4, calling it "not Bazball." Given that England were three runs behind and having trouble forming a strong partnership, Brook should never have counterattacked, he added.
Brook has scooped, and they have given him a gap, so flip it. It's not even overconfidence, it's a little bit of arrogance, and it's not even Bazball; it's simply arrogance. Sangakkara stated, "You're counter-attacking, which is a huge, huge mistake."
After the first three days of the Lord's Test, there was no difference between the two teams, as both India and England scored 387 runs in their respective first innings.
In spite of this, India fought back hard in the game. Four wickets were taken by the visitors in the first session of Day 4, bringing England to 98/4. Mohammed Siraj took the first two wickets, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash each grabbed one.
