World cricket has been anticipating Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's next match wearing the India jersey ever since their departure from T20I cricket the previous year and their unexpected retirement from Test cricket in May. Despite the fact that the trip of Bangladesh was meant to be in August, and the Men in Blue were scheduled to start their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup with it, the BCCI has not yet verified their involvement.

The schedule for India's tour, which includes a three-match ODI series on August 17, 20, and 23, followed by T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31, with matches to be held in Mirpur and Chattogram, was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in April of this year. But on Monday, BCB President Aminul Islam disclosed that the tour is still pending government approval and that the BCCI has not yet formally confirmed it.

Following the 19th board meeting, which was held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday, Aminul stated, "I have already spoken to the BCCI. The discussions have been positive." "We have hope. They are awaiting some government approvals for the tour, which is set for next month.

Rohit and Kohli's homecoming in Indian colors will be postponed until the tour of Australia in October, when the visitors will participate in three ODIs, if the BCCI is unable to obtain approval from the Indian government. October 19 is when the trip will start.

Rohit will continue to be the captain in the format, as previously confirmed by the Indian board, which means that for the first time, the national team will have three different captains for each format.

Cricket Australia predicts that this might be Kohli and Rohit's last tour as professional cricketers in Australia, so they will probably be honored throughout the trip.

Having received a favorable response from the BCCI, the BCB is nevertheless upbeat about India's trip. If the tour is canceled, though, India will play Bangladesh in the next available window.

"The discussions are still underway. They will tour in the following window if, for any reason, they are unable to come in August. We continue to be positive about this timetable. Aminul replied, "The BCCI has been professional and collaborative, and I can say nothing else."
