Prior to the IPL 2025 final match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers gave one another a heartfelt embrace. The pair served as RCB's pillar for 11 years prior to the former's resignation announcement in 2021. Many spectators were moved by their reunion prior to the major event.

On the eve of the IPL 2025 final, ABD, also known as Mr. 360, likewise sent a message to Kohli. “My message to Virat is to go out and enjoy and have fun out there,” the South African told Star Sports. Smile. I'll be there to see you. Bring that prize (IPL) back home. Make the most of every moment.

But what really grabbed the audience's attention was the interaction between Kohli and AB de Villiers on the field.

On the platform formerly known as Twitter, X, one user commented, "It's an emotional moment when Virat Kohli hugs Ab de Villiers and hopes that RCB wins today and pays tribute to them and their fans."

Another fan tweeted, "The Hug Moments of Virat Kohli and Ab De Villiers.❤️"

Between 2011 and 2021, de Villiers was a member of the RCB. He has 4522 runs for the franchise in 157 games, with an average of 41.20 runs and a strike rate of over 155. His best IPL score was 133*, which he achieved in 2015 against the Mumbai Indians. Kohli and de Villiers were the IPL's most productive pairing, scoring two 200+ partnerships and five 100+ partnerships, including a record 229-run stand for the 2nd wicket against Gujarat Lions in 2016.

In the interim, Kohli and the RCB are competing in the IPL final on Tuesday in an attempt to take home their first championship. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Punjab Kings, chose to field after winning the toss.
