After sustaining a knee injury in Manchester, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been excluded from the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, setting up the conclusion of his journey to the United Kingdom. The Hindustan Times learned from sources close to the incident that the young all-rounder sustained the injury in the gym on Sunday while practicing. After that, he had scans that showed considerable ligament injury.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has, indeed, experienced an injury setback. According to the source, it now seems doubtful that he will be able to participate in the final two tests, which will be held in Manchester and the Oval.

In addition, Nitish Kumar Reddy was not among the Indian team that met with Manchester United players and staff on Sunday.

The visitors, who are already trailing 1-2 in the five-match series and are worried about the injuries to Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep, are now facing a significant setback in their preparations as a result of this development. With the exception of the Manchester Test, which begins on July 23, both pacers are almost certain to be absent.

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has already been called up by the team management as backup, and he will join the squad later today.

The series for India in Headingley was not started by Nitish Kumar Reddy, as Shardul Thakur was chosen above him, to name one. But the team management recruited him for the following Test in Edgbaston, which India won by 336 runs.

In the second Test, Reddy's contributions were not particularly significant; he scored only two runs and was unable to take a wicket in six overs. But in the Lord's Test, the all-rounder rose to the occasion, dismissing England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the first innings in the same over.

In the second innings, he also defeated Crawley. He performed hard hits in both innings while holding the bat. On both occasions, though, India fell short of winning the game by 22 runs because he was out at a critical moment.

Will Nitish Reddy be replaced by Shardul Thakur?

In all three games of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, India favored having one quick-bowling all-rounder. Nitish Kumar Reddy's exclusion from the series gives Shardul a legitimate opportunity to be selected for the starting XI.

In the first Test, Shardul bowled for less than 20 overs overall, indicating that he was not used effectively with the ball in his hand. But as England pursued over 370 runs, his attempt was not sufficient despite the fact that he scalped two wickets in the second innings.

Reddy took his place in the starting XI due to his lackluster performance with the bat, which was a major factor.
