Former India cricketer and head coach of the Delhi Capitals, Hemang Badani, praised KL Rahul for his dedication, pointing out that he recently embraced fatherhood but nonetheless arrived early in England to join the Indian team. After the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Rahul is now the most experienced batsman in the current Test team. He came to England early before the rest of the group and played for India. Following the conclusion of IPL 2025, a game to prepare for red-ball cricket. The classy right-hander justified his choice and highlighted his dedication to the squad by scoring a superb century in the second innings of the first Test, which supported his early arrival in England.

Rahul's perseverance greatly impressed Badani, who pointed out that he opted not to take a break even after becoming a father in March. Rather, Rahul represented his club for the whole IPL season before going directly to England to fulfill his national responsibilities.

The fact that he was someone who stated, "I want to go to England early. I want to play the side game," really appealed to me. He didn't get the hundred; that happened later. What counts is the purpose. The goal is to arrive early, be ready, and support the squad. He is still a young father, let's not forget, and I don't believe his kid is accompanying him at first. Therefore, it is a big decision for him to declare "Country over my child," Badani said to Times of India.

The DC coach claimed that Rahul, as the more experienced player, may have avoided traveling to England for India. Although it was a game, he was really dedicated and didn't try to justify it in any way.

"He may have simply said, 'I'm not playing the side game anyway, I'll just go straight to the Test match.' However, he didn't, he said.

'KL Rahul has excelled in the role of the most experienced batter'

Following the retirements of Rohit and Kohli, Rahul solidified his position as the cornerstone of India's modern batting order by scoring a second-innings century in the first Test, which gave India the advantage at a critical point.

According to Badani, Rahul lived up to his responsibilities as the team's senior player and showed outstanding dedication during a time of transition for Indian cricket, when leadership was changing hands and younger players were settling in.

Prior to the Test series, KL stated, "I care for this team, and I want to be here." I could see his longing to travel to England in his eyes and in what he said. He assumes the role of the senior-most hitter in the absence of Rohit and Virat, and he has performed that function admirably, Badani stated.
