KL Rahul Blames Jadeja but Proves Jaddu’s Not at Fault

Who would have imagined that? Without Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian bowling lineup will still be able to take 20 wickets, which will allow Shubman Gill's team to tie the five-game series against England. Against Ben Stokes' England team, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, and Prasidh Krishna all contributed to the visitors' 336-run victory in the Edgbaston Test. As these two were India's top performers, Akash Deep and Shubman Gill experienced a Test that they would never forget.
Shubman Gill totaled 430 runs throughout the Test, with 269 and 161 in the first and second innings, respectively. Conversely, Akash Deep took a total of ten wickets, six of which were taken in the second innings. Although Ravindra Jadeja may not have taken many wickets, he played a flawless role by preventing England from scoring runs at a rapid rate.
To the dismay of the English batsmen, Jadeja continued to bowl into the rough. Jadeja was denied the wicket of Brydon Carse when India only needed two more wickets for the victory since KL Rahul ultimately missed the catch at slips.
The pitch struck a length outside the leg stump during the third ball of the 57th over. Brydon Carse was trapped on the back foot block when it turned significantly. He had a thick outside edge that went to the left of KL. But the Indian opening batsman saw it too late, and much to the chagrin of the squad, the opportunity was eventually dropped.
But shortly after, the replays revealed that KL Rahul had only just set the field a few seconds before Jadeja was about to bowl. Jadeja bowled his over so quickly that even his teammate was taken aback, and ultimately, the catch was missed.
In an attempt to prevent the single, KL Rahul was seen requesting the legside fielder to move closer.
"Jadeja simply took off, while KL Rahul was really in charge of the field. The batter occasionally finds Jadeja to be too fast. The fielder was again unable to respond quickly enough. In my opinion, that statement sums it up," Raunak Kapoor said live on JioHotstar.
India's memorable win at Edgbaston
Courtesy of a memorable win at Edgbaston, India registered their first-ever Test win at the venue in Birmingham. Shubman Gill was adjudged Player of the Match for his total of 430 runs in the contest.
Speaking after the win, Shubman said, “All the things we spoke about after the first game, we were spot on with all of those things. Our bowling and fielding were tremendous to see.”
“On this kind of wicket, we knew if we got 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we'll be in the game. Not every time we're going to drop that many catches that we did in Headingley,” he added.
Jadeja scored fifties in both innings while KL Rahul went past the 50-run mark in the second innings.
India and England will now square off in the third Test at the Lord's Cricket Ground, beginning July 10.
