Following the surgery he needed for his dislocated left shoulder, which he sustained on November 5, 2023, Real Madrid attacking midfielder Jude Bellingham is expected to be out of action for three months.

In a statement, Real Madrid said, "Our player Jude Bellingham has had successful surgery for a recurrent left shoulder dislocation. Bellingham will now begin a period of rehabilitation before returning to recovery work."

In the second half of a La Liga match against Real Vallecano, Bellingham landed awkwardly on his left arm after colliding with an opposing defender. His shoulder dislocated as a result of this, causing him pain for a year and a half. He decided against having surgery. When wearing a brace, he had been able to play.

After joining Madrid from Borussia Dortmund, Bellingham played in the Club World Cup to conclude his second season there.

Many Spanish media sources have suggested that Bellingham will be sidelined from Real Madrid's matches for between three and four months, or ten and twelve weeks, although the exact amount of time has never been predicted.

The England midfielder waited until his final match against Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinals, which Madrid lost 4-0, before having surgery.

On August 19, Madrid begins its La Liga season against Osasuna. The 22-year-old is expected to miss seven games for Real Madrid, including a hard-fought contest against city rivals Atletico Madrid and the possibility that he will miss the season's inaugural El Clasico on October 26. In September, he is also anticipated to miss some Champions League games and probably England's World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra and Serbia.

In the Club World Cup, Bellingham stated, "I've gotten to the point where... I'm tired of the brace, and having to pull on it and having (other) players pull on it, and it rearranging all the time."
