Following England's defeat at Edgbaston, bowling star James Anderson said that England has no choice but to include Jofra Archer in the Playing XI for the Lord's Test. India amassed massive scores of 578 in the first innings and 427/6 in the second, while England's pace attack had trouble on the flat Edgbaston surface. As a result of this lack of penetration from the bowlers, India was able to control the match, which ended in a crushing 336-run win that brought the series to a tie in dramatic fashion.

Jofra Archer is on the bench, and England are predicted to make some adjustments to their bowling attack following the devastating loss.

Before it's too late, Anderson urged England to unleash Archer at Lord's, warning that any more delays in including him may be detrimental.

"You may continue trying to build his overs up and play him later in the series, but it may be too late by then," Anderson said on the BBC's Tailenders Podcast. "I think he will play."

Having spent time playing for Sussex and being with the squad during the Edgbaston Test, the seasoned pacer observed that Archer appears to have gotten back into his red-ball rhythm.

"He's bowled a little and played one match for Sussex; he was with the team at Edgbaston. I simply have the impression that you have to manipulate him. The England legend said, "The game is too important not to."

Head coach Brendon McCullum hinted that Jofra Archer would probably play in the upcoming games of the Test series after England's convincing loss at Edgbaston. McCullum stated that Archer is "looking fit, strong, and ready to go" and that he will be "in calculations" for selection, suggesting a possible comeback for the third Test at Lord's.

According to the ICC, he said, "Jofra is looking fit, he's looking strong, he's looking ready to go, and he'll come into calculations. It's hugely exciting." He's excited, too. His time away from Test cricket and his injuries are clearly behind him.

"We all know what he's capable of in Test cricket, and we hope that when the chance presents itself, he'll be able to not only replicate but also build upon what he's already accomplished in that format of the game," McCullum continued.
