Manolo Marquez, the head coach of the national squad, and the AIFF are under increasing pressure as India's chance to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 hangs by a thread. India is now at the bottom of their qualification group after losing 0-1 to Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Former players have criticized the AIFF since India's loss, with Bhaichung Bhutia specifically attacking president Kalyan Chaubey and demanding that he step down.

Ravi Puskur, the CEO of FC Goa, hopped on the bandwagon and shared his thoughts on the state of football in India.

He posted on X, saying, "A Humble Submission: I've always refrained from expressing my grievances in public since it's the easy and safer thing to do." However, remaining silent makes me a part of the issue. Therefore, I am deciding to express it now. out of a sense of responsibility, not rage.

"In ways that we choose to ignore, the system is corrupt. Everything is driven by influence, favors, and easily broken egos.

"We lack the maturity to handle the ecosystem we say we're creating. We are more likely to turn on one another than to confront uncomfortable truths.

There is anger throughout the federation, clubs, coach, and players as a result of yesterday's defeat to Hong Kong. The fact is, though, that blame is not isolated.

"It is the property of all of us. "And that includes me, yes."

He stated, "Clubs—mine included—have inflated player salaries irresponsibly," thereby exposing how player wages are exaggerated. We are competing with one another for perception, despite the fact that it is impossible to sustain. Then we pretend to be surprised when these players fail miserably on the global stage. We created that illusion.

"They have potential, but they haven't had much incentive to develop it." By prioritizing player comfort, we've forfeited their advantage.

"Agents contribute to the issue. In order to fill their pockets, they are sucking the desire out of the athletes. It's no longer only about large contracts; it's about players losing their desire. He continued, "There is too much emphasis on earning and not enough emphasis on developing."

India is at the bottom of the group with four games left. India will be hosting Singapore and Hong Kong in addition to playing away games in Bangladesh and Singapore.
