In Gumi, South Korea, on Wednesday, India successfully retained the 4x400m mixed relay championship at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025. After finishing with a time of 3:18.12 seconds, the Indian team—which consisted of Rupal Choudhary, Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan, Vishal TK, and Subha Venkatesan—won the gold medal. China came in second with 3:20.52 seconds, while Sri Lanka came in third with 3:21.95 seconds.

Santosh gave India the initial lead in the competition by winning the first leg. Although Rupal faced fierce competition from China, she held the lead until she passed the baton to Vishal, who increased the lead and allowed Subha to finish the race in style.

India had won the gold in the mixed relay in 2023 and the silver in 2019, making this their third medal in the event.

Day 2 in India focuses on women

In Gumi on Wednesday, the women dominated the show, with Rupal winning silver in the 400-meter race and Pooja coming in second in the 1500-meter event. In the women's 400m final, the former completed the race in 52.68 seconds to give India its first score of the day. Fellow Indian Vithya Ramraj finished fifth with a time of 53.00 seconds. Shortly after, Pooja won India's second silver medal, finishing the women's 1500m in 4:10.83 seconds, barely beating out Lili Das, a fellow citizen, who came in fourth with 4:13.81 seconds.
