IPL 2025 Final Starts with Drama: Iyer and Patidar's Toss Talk Raises Eyebrows
6 months ago | 5 Views
During the toss before the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar and Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer exchanged minor jibes. In the summit match, Shreyas, who had just come off an undefeated 87-run innings against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, chose to bowl first after winning the toss.
Due to just one person, Virat Kohli, the whole population of Ahmedabad is overwhelmingly pro-RCB. In order to win their first championship, PBKS must win over a crowd of over 130,000. Before the battle royale, both captains, Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar, made an attempt to be somewhat arrogant throughout the toss, displaying assurance.
As the toss was taking place, Shreyas Iyer told broadcaster Ravi Shastri that the pressure of a final is so high that it's not just another match. Patidar, however, claims that his side is treating the challenge of playing Punjab Kings as "just another game."
"It's a big occasion, it's a final, and we're going to play like a final," Shreyas Iyer said during the toss.
In contrast, Rajat Patidar minimized the event of playing in the championship game, stating, "I think we've played good cricket, and it's just another game for us. Therefore, we will do our best and attempt to play excellent cricket. You may occasionally get the best out of yourself when under pressure.
In a matter of months, this is the second time that Shreyas and Patidar have faced each other in the championship of a T20 tournament. The two had previously met in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final between Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai. Shreyas's team had won that contest.

Shreyas sends his mind positive messages.
After his 87-run innings against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad in Qualifier 2, Shreyas Iyer is the talk of the town. The 30-year-old said that he is doing all he can to keep his composure and that he is only sending positive signals to his mind in preparation for the championship.
"I want to send my mind and body exclusively good signals. I think today is wonderful. Everything is currently here. The atmosphere is thrilling. Shreyas said, "All we have to do is come here and cherish."
I think the team has a fantastic mindset and is in great form. Additionally, I have made that statement in many interviews I have conducted in the past. I believe that today is yet another day when we must show up in large numbers and make sure that we accept it for who we are rather than attempting to be someone else," he continued.
Additionally, Shreyas said that winning their first IPL title by defeating RCB would be an amazing experience for the Punjab Kings.
"Just thinking about raising the trophy will be an amazing sensation. I've already seen it. Shreyas stated, "At the moment, it's all in the mind to go out and perform to the best of our abilities."
For the IPL 2025 final, neither RCB nor PBKS are making any changes.
