Jasprit Bumrah reaffirmed why he is regarded as a cheat code in every game format he participates in. In the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on Friday, the ace speedster led the Mumbai Indians to a standout performance in their defense of 228 against the Gujarat Titans. In a game between the two clubs where 436 runs were scored, Bumrah finished with stats of 1/27 out of his four overs.

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, raved about Bumrah after the victory in the Eliminator in Mullanpur, calling it a privilege for any captain to have a bowler of his caliber.

Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar were firing on all cylinders for the Gujarat Titans at one point, and the team was gaining ground. As the Mumbai Indians searched for a wicket, Jasprit Bumrah was then introduced to the attack in the 14th over. With a flawless yorker, the pacer struck the stumps of Sundar (48), much to the delight of everyone.

The Gujarat Titans suffered a 20-run defeat as a result of Sai Sudharsan's quick fall of his wicket.

In an interview with the host broadcaster during the post-match presentation, Hardik stated, "It's very simple. Just bring him Bumrah if you ever feel like the game is slipping away. That's a luxury to have. He's that pricey, much like Mumbai real estate.

“I was simply monitoring the score, and I felt that I had the bowlers to deliver if we could maintain additional runs towards the conclusion. The gap needed to increase as a result of Jassi coming in and knocking that over, he continued. (The 18th over).

Due to a back spasm, Bumrah was unable to participate in the first several games of the IPL 2025 campaign. But after receiving the green light from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bumrah joined the squad, and the side hasn't looked back since then.

Rohit Sharma batted with grace.

Mumbai Indians chose to bat first in the Eliminator after winning the toss. The Mumbai Indians scored 228 runs thanks to Rohit Sharma's 81 and Jonny Bairstow's 47.

"The way Ro batted," Hardik Pandya remarked of Rohit Sharma's innings. He didn't hurry, and after he found his rhythm, it was really lovely.

Despite their best efforts to bring Gujarat over the finish line, Sai Sudharsan, 80, and Washington Sundar, 48, were ultimately unsuccessful.

"The game was even-stevens at one point in time. The second innings saw improvement in the wicket, in my opinion. We understood that we needed to keep our composure and support our boys as it began to come on nicely and they established a rhythm, Hardik added.

"The manner Jonny batted and started... for him to make his debut for us, it's a special franchise, coming in and playing the way he played," he said.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Mumbai Indians' Qualifier 2 matchup against the Punjab Kings on Sunday, June 3.
