The World Grigor Dimitrov, the top Bulgarian player, withdrew due to injury from his Round of 16 match against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Monday at Wimbledon's center court. Dimitrov allegedly quit due to a muscle ailment, according to reports. The Italian celebrity Sinner will now advance to the Wimbledon tournament quarterfinals despite having lost two sets.
Dimitrov was on track to pull off one of the tournament's greatest upsets by defeating the World No. 2 Sinner, leading by two sets. The Bulgarian, however, held his right chest after striking an ace when the score was tied at 2-2 in the third set, and he began to exclaim, "My pec! My pec!"—referring to his pectoral muscle— bringing an end to his dream run at the center court.
As Dimitrov sat on the ground with his hand over his chest, feeling his opponent's discomfort, Sinner moved to the other side of the court. Immediately afterward, he sat in the chair while his support staff examined and cared for the wound, but it turned out to be ineffective, and Grigor Dimitrov was brought inside for additional medical attention. In the meanwhile, Sinner was conversing with his support team while anticipating news on the events. Dimitrov emerged from the treatment room after some time and declared that he was withdrawing.

In his post-match interview, the Italian stated, "I don't consider this to be a win at all. I'm at a loss for words." We all saw today that Dimitrov is an outstanding player. Over the past few years, he has had such bad luck.
Seeing him like this, "an amazing player and a good friend of mine off the court... He would honestly deserve to play in the following round. From his perspective, it was really unlucky, and from our point of view, it was a very sad event to see; I hope he recovers quickly.
It's difficult to watch him with this because he was clearly dealing with injuries in the previous big slams. His reaction and passion for the game demonstrate that he is among the most diligent players on the circuit. It's quite heartbreaking, and we send him our best wishes and cheer.
