Gill’s Winning Formula: Separate Focus on Captaincy and Batting

New Delhi: Before announcing with a 607-run lead, it was clear by Saturday night that India was attempting to suffocate England with the sheer mass of runs. The Edgbaston Test was eventually won by them by a margin of 336 runs, making it India's greatest victory on foreign soil in terms of runs. Additionally, it's the first time an Asian side has ever won a Test at the location, where India has lost all eight of its previous contests.
Despite not having Jasprit Bumrah as their spearhead, India was able to select 20 wickets in the game, but the exquisite touch that captain Shubman Gill was in was a major factor in their ability to defeat England on a featherbed.
He became the first batsman to ever score 250+ and 150+ runs in the same Test, and his total of 430 runs over the two innings was the second highest total in Test history. "We knew that 400–500 runs would be sufficient on this kind of wicket. After winning the Player of the Match award at the post-match ceremony, Gill stated, "Not every game will be like Headingley."

Going into the series, doubts were raised about Gill's ability to bat in England, but the new captain has answered those doubts by scoring three triple figure innings and an astounding 585 runs in his four innings thus far, proving that he enjoys leading from the front.
"I am definitely feeling comfortable with my game, and if we are able to win the series with my contributions, it'll be great," Gill said when asked about how well he can separate batting and captaincy.
"As I previously stated, I want to play and leave as a batsman, making judgments as a batsman. When you're a batter, you have to think like a captain, but occasionally you'll choose not to take certain chances.
Next, Gill will go to Lord's for his first Test at the legendary location. To help manage his workload, Bumrah will be rested for the second Test, but he will "definitely" be back for the game that starts on July 10, he confirmed.
"Looking forward to it (Lord's Test)." Everyone dreams of playing there as a child because it is probably the most well-known cricket stadium in the world. In my opinion, there is no higher honor than leading your team and representing your nation as its captain.
