The five-Test series between India and England, which begins on June 20, is anticipated to be a thrilling match between two teams vying for dominance. However, the series' development appears to center mostly on those who have left. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin have all declared their retirement from Test cricket, leaving India without all three. Therefore, despite their legendary careers and all they have done for Indian cricket, it's time to move on and concentrate on the next generation of players.

This is because the truth is straightforward: Indian cricket needs a batter to look forward to tomorrow, and even if the current squad isn't particularly experienced, these players aren't helpless either. Head coach Gautam Gambhir gathered his group of players and conveyed the seriousness of the scenario to them with eight days remaining before the series opener in Leeds. They have the option of moping over India's absence of three of their top players or using this chance to show the world differently.

"Simply put, this tour can be viewed in just two ways. One is that we are without our three most seasoned players, and the other is that we have an amazing chance to accomplish something remarkable for the nation. We can have a memorable trip if we engage in combat, not daily, but every session, every hour, every ball," Gambhir stated in a video posted by the BCCI.

Ultimately, India will have to make do with what they have. And it's not a group of A-team experts. Many of these players have prior experience playing Test matches in England, including KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. In reality, they are on their third Test tour of England, having taken part in the series in 2018 and 2021. In 2018, the team included even Karun Nair, who had just returned to India's Test team after a seven-year hiatus. Like the two newcomers, the series is sure to be a litmus test for him.
