Gambhir, Gill May Bench Prasidh & Shardul for Debutant in 4th Test

In Manchester, a new face might take center stage in India's pace sector. 24-year-old right-arm medium pacer ahead of the fourth Test against England, where Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep are in danger of getting hurt. On July 23, at Old Trafford, Anshul Kamboj might make a surprise Test debut after being selected to the team.
It is possible that Anshul will also make his debut alongside pacer Akash Deep, who similarly hobbled off during the Lord's Test.
Kamboj, who has 79 wickets and 486 runs from 24 first-class matches, drew attention recently during India A's four-day contest against England Lions. In the first game, the Haryana cricketer took one wicket, and in the second game, he grabbed two wickets in each inning.
Beyond his bowling, his hard-hitting knock of 51* from 86 balls, while batting at No. 9, was what stood out, as it demonstrated his all-around potential.
The injury situation in the Indian camp has grown more and more complex. Mohammed Shami was replaced by Arshdeep Singh in the team, but he is now said to be out of action due to a niggle. It is doubtful that Akash Deep will play in Manchester after he wowed at Lord's prior to limping off with a back injury. Therefore, the team's management has few choices in the seam sector.

Prasidh in front of Shardul and Kamboj?
The increasing faith in the youngster is evident in Kamboj's possible inclusion ahead of more seasoned campaigners like Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna. Kamboj has steadily but surely advanced his case for a red-ball position since his IPL 2025 tenure with the Chennai Super Kings team and his previous debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2024.
A source informed TOI, "Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep will not be playing together in the last two Tests."
"Prior to the tour, it was determined that Bumrah would only participate in three Tests in this series, and given the recent flare-up of Akash's back niggle, we are unable to see the two of them playing in the XI together.
"Akash will sit out if Bumrah plays in Manchester. Bumrah will be replaced by Akash at The Oval."
Since 1936, India has made nine tries but has never won a Test at Old Trafford. A potential trial by fire for Kamboj if chosen, but also the chance to write history.
