Djokovic is attempting to win his 25th Grand Slam in the men's singles division, but Zverev is the main obstacle in his way, making it difficult for him to get there. Their head-to-head record is 8-5 in favor of Djokovic, including their most recent match at the Australian Open, where the Serbian withdrew due to injury and handed Zverev a walkover after the first set. Remarkably, Djokovic has won all of their previous Grand Slam competitions, including the French Open (2019), the Australian Open (2021), and the US Open (2021).

Sinner began the year defending his title in Australia, but was then out of action for three months, serving a WADA suspension in a doping case from the prior season.
