World No. 12 Bernadette Szocs, Lilian Bardet, and Yashaswini Ghorpade led U Mumba TT to a dominating 10-5 victory against Western rivals Ahmedabad SG Pipers in IndianOil Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 6 on Monday, marking a stylish comeback. The Kolkata ThunderBlades defeated Season 3 champions Stanley's Chennai Lions 8-7 in their league debut in the previous tie.

After establishing an 8-0 advantage in the decider, Yashaswini, who was making her season debut, went on to defeat Ayhika Mukherjee with a calm 2-1 victory, winning the decider 11-4.

Mumbai retained its momentum as Szocs and Akash Pal collaborated to defeat Walther and Ayhika in the mixed doubles 2-1, despite a little rally from the opposition. In the fourth match, Akash almost won the tie with an upset, winning the first game against World No. 34 Ricardo Walther before the German rebounded to tie the score. In the last battle, however, Szocs closed the door, defeating Giorgia Piccolin 3-0 to win the match. Yashaswini and Szocs won the Indian and Foreign Player of the Tie accolades, respectively, while Ayhika won the Shot of the Tie award for a stunning forehand drive in her singles match.

In the surprise of the night, 18-year-old Indian prodigy Ankur Bhattacharjee shut out Olympian and World No. 55 Kirill Gerassimenko 3-0 to lead Kolkata ThunderBlades, making their IndianOil UTT Season 6 debut, to an exciting victory against Stanley's Chennai Lions in their opening match.
