New Delhi: A 17-year-old female boxer has accused a female boxing instructor assigned to the Sports Authority of India's (SAI) National Boxing Academy in Rohtak, Haryana, of sexual assault. Based on the boxer's allegation, an FIR was filed against the coach on Friday under the POCSO Act (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences).

The boxer's mother has accused the coach of "physical torture" and "sexual abuse" of her daughter during an India camp in Ireland (March 24-April 3), according to the FIR. The training and exposure camp for young Indian boxers was led by the coach. In addition to POCSO's section 10 (aggravated sexual assault), the complaint has been filed under sections 115 (voluntarily causing harm) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita.

The FIR states that the boxer's parents claimed they spoke with representatives of the Boxing Federation of India and filed a complaint with the organization, but the coach has not been fired from her position.

The complaint made to the BFI was exclusively about physical abuse such as slapping, according to a senior BFI administrator. Neither the boxer nor her parents ever brought up the subject of "sexual harassment" against the coach.

"We promptly established a two-person committee and investigated the incident. In addition, a lawyer was there to document the testimonies. The boxer had mentioned being slapped and ordered to do front rolls by the trainer. Her parents accompanied us as we documented her remarks. We spoke with the coach as well as other members of the crew and support personnel. In addition, we went to the academy in Rohtak and had a chat with some of the boxers. The official informed HT that we have given SAI our report.

"The coach did not deserve any action against him." Furthermore, there were no allegations of sexual misconduct. We are shocked that her parents never said a word about it during our conversation, the officer stated.

The SAI has been contacted for comment.

According to the FIR, the boxer's mother claims that the coach's behavior toward her daughter was "indecent" throughout the camp. "She physically tortured and molested her. According to her complaint, this coach's conduct was previously inappropriate, and she attempted to touch my child in an improper way, but my youngster didn't comprehend it and believed it to be normal. HT has a duplicate of the FIR.

"My youngster was asked to create a video by the coach during the camp. The coach yelled at the youngster in front of the team and made her perform front rolls in front of the women's team and then in the men's locker room when she showed the video. My kid suffered a back injury (bruise).

The coach refused to let any other coach be with the boxer and did not come with her to her fight the next day, she claimed. "She fought the bout alone (with no one in her corner) in the ring and we have video footage of the same."

"She phoned my youngster in the hall following her bout and questioned her character. My daughter became depressed after the coach summoned the entire team into the hall, insulted her, and demanded that she bring her phone. The coach shut the door behind her while she was in her room getting her phone. The coach molested her by fondling her intimate areas and saying, "I will teach you how to make a good video."

"When my child shoved the coach and shouted at her, the coach forcibly attempted to strip her of her clothing." Then, in front of everyone, the coach repeatedly struck her and instructed her to write a letter stating that "I have another phone which I use to speak to the boys."

"My daughter slapped her again when she refused to do that. My daughter penned a letter criticizing the coach for hitting her, but the coach threatened her and forced her to alter her story out of concern that she would file a complaint against her after arriving in India."

According to the FIR, the complainant's daughter returned to the NBA, but the coach "repeatedly tried to meet her, touch her and intimidate her. We are all depressed, and my daughter is experiencing harassment and deep depression.
