MyKayla Skinner, a gymnast, has criticized her former teammate Simone Biles for engaging in a verbal dispute with former swimmer Riley Gaines about the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports. In a statement to One America News, Skinner alleged that Biles "belittled, dismissed, and ostracized [her] behind the scenes" during her entire career. Numerous people on social media have praised Skinner for backing Gaines. This follows Biles' public apology for her comments about Gaines, which the former swimmer Has accepted.
The two celebrities recently engaged in a verbal altercation after Gaines criticized Minnesota's Champlin Park softball team for allegedly adding a 17-year-old transgender player to the lineup. Biles referred to Gaines as "sick" and "a sore loser" in light of it.
The 11-time Olympic medalist told Gaines to "bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male," which exacerbated the conflict even further.
Biles later expressed regret for her comments, emphasizing that "competitive equity & inclusivity" are vital components of athletics.
The former swimmer accepted the apology in her response and described Simone Biles as "the greatest female gymnast of all time."
In response to Biles' comments, Skinner issued a statement to One America News. The gymnast praised Gaines for "having the courage to speak up."
"Throughout my own career, I endured being belittled, dismissed, and ostracized behind the scenes by Simone," she stated. There was a tremendous urge to remain silent. She also claimed that she remained silent on the issue out of admiration for her teammates and the sport.
Many of Skinner's supporters have shown their support for her on social media.
"Mykayla, thank you. "You're a true role model for young girls with gymnastics dreams," someone posted on X.
"Well said Kayla," added another.

Skinner and Biles were notably teammates at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Skinner claimed in a statement that Biles "belittled, dismissed, and ostracized behind the scenes" during her entire career.
