Prior to the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago, Oscar Piastri of McLaren appeared to be in fantastic shape. Up to that point, he had three additional podium finishes and had won five of the nine races. Piastri's next successful stop in his pursuit of the 2025 Drivers' Championship would have been Canada, but as he placed outside of the top three, Mercedes' George Russell secured his first victory of the year. Despite finishing second, defending champion Max Verstappen is still 43 points behind Piastri.

The Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring is next, which, by the way, was Russell's first of just two victories last year. With four victories, Verstappen has the most of any driver at this track. Of the current group, he is the only person to have won it more than once. Is it possible for Russell to win the race twice in a row on the 306.452-kilometer track, completing 71 laps?

Oscar Piastri is still high up on the charts with 198 points, following his fourth place finish in Canada. His teammate Lando Norris is 22 points behind him at 176, while Max Verstappen has 155 points. He is followed by George Russell (136) and Charles Leclertc (104), in the top 5 currently.

McLaren is comfortably ahead with 374 points, followed by Mercedes at 199 and Ferrari at 183. At 162 points, Red Bull Racing is playing it by the ear, considering that Verstappen’s stuck with newbie Yuki Tsunoda, whose best this season was a ninth place finish in Bahrain.
