Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end, had a terrible season last year, and Eric Mangini, the former head coach of the Cleveland Browns, has offered his explanation for the tight end's poor play. On the breakfast ball talk show, Mangini asserted that Kelce's demise is due to his offseason commitments, such as his romance with pop singer Taylor Swift.

"When you look at his offseason last year, it was filled with everything but football," he said. "So, he's got the budding romance, he's on tour, he's travelling overseas, all that stuff, which is, which is great. The TV show is the next thing he has. Consequently, he produces the TV show. And good with that as well. And then there's the podcast.

He continued his harsh critique, stating, "So he's got so many things in a shortened season, be which, you know, you're hoping the guys are going to get away from football and decompress, but not get away from football and 50 other things... I'm not angry at him taking advantage of the opportunities, but I do think that put him a little bit behind the eight-ball going into the season."

The 10-time Pro Bowler had 823 yards and three receiving touchdowns last season. Kelce's dismal play has caused many fans to wonder if he's on the verge of retiring from the game. But for the 2025-26 NFL campaign, he has made the choice to rejoin the Chiefs.

In a press conference held at the team's minicamp last month, Kelce discussed his future with the Chiefs in great depth. "The Chiefs organization knows how much I love them," he stated. "I can't see myself ever playing anywhere else, so we will deal with that down the road when the time is right." But I am currently concentrating on winning the title this year.

On August 10, the Chiefs will play their first game of the 2025 NFL season against the Arizona Cardinals.
