England Stick with Same XI for Edgbaston Test Against India; Jofra Archer Left Out

Since he has been excluded from England's starting lineup for the second Test against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, Jofra Archer must wait for his opportunity. The same XI that played in the second Test of the five-match series on Monday was named by Ben Stokes and company. There were signals that Archer would participate in the second Test last week, for which the right-arm speedster was included to England's squad, but this is not the case.
Because of a family crisis, Archer was unable to participate in England's training session on Monday. But on the day before the second Test, Tuesday, he is anticipated to meet the squad.
Due to a family emergency, England Men's fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss today's practice session at Edgbaston, Monday 30 June, with the England Test team, the ECB announced in a formal statement.
"He is anticipated to return to the squad tomorrow, Tuesday, ahead of the Rothesay second Test at Edgbaston, which begins on Wednesday against India," he stated.
Archer has been selected for England's Test team for the first time in four years. After the pacer had logged a few miles under his belt, the England think tank secured his selection to the Test team by arranging for him to play in the County Championship for Sussex.
The ICC Men's Champions Trophy, where England was eliminated from the competition in the group round, was the last time Archer represented the country. The pacer has thus far taken 42 wickets for the Three Lions in 13 Tests, averaging 31 wickets per game.
India vs. England in the series lead
The hosts defeated Headingley Test by five wickets to take a 1-0 advantage in the five-game series. Ben Duckett's innings of 149 in the second innings helped England score 371.
After England lost five wickets in rapid succession, Joe Root and Jamie Smith carried the hosts across the finish line. Jasprit Bumrah failed to take a wicket for India in the second innings. With 188 runs for the first wicket, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley broke the back of the chase.
India was the first side in the history of the game to lose a Test match even when five different players scored centuries.
The England XI for the second Test is as follows: Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes ©, Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Shoaib Bashir.
