After Portugal won the UEFA Nations League, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a big hint that he might be retiring. The 40-year-old broke down after Portugal beat Spain 5-3 on penalties in the championship match at the Allianz Stadium in Munich, Germany. In the championship game, the forward had previously scored during regular time to tie the score between Portugal and Spain at 2-2.

Following that, he witnessed his teammates win a well-known 5-3 victory in the shootout in front of a crowded stadium. Fans have been wondering if Ronaldo still has one more World Cup appearance in him since the previous FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Ronaldo will be 41 years old by the time the next event rolls around.

The Portugal talisman hinted at retirement after the victory in the UEFA Nations League, saying that he would like to keep going if he doesn't sustain "serious injuries."

Additionally, the rebellious forward disclosed that he had an ailment going into the championship game against Spain. Nevertheless, he claimed that he would have shattered his leg in order to play for Portugal.

“I had been feeling it for a while, and I could already sense it during the warmup, but for the national team, I would have broken my leg if I had to. I gave it my all because it was for a trophy," said Ronaldo.

"I have lived in a lot of nations, I have played for a lot of clubs, but when it's about Portugal, it is always a special feeling," he said.

At the conclusion of this month, Ronaldo's contract with the Saudi club Al-Nassr will expire, making his future in club football unclear. Ronaldo tweeted "This chapter is over" on social media after the club's final game of the campaign.
