I enjoy fashion because it's entertaining. One of the factors contributing to my ability to afford some of my travels is this. I wanted everything to come from myself and from my tennis; I didn't want to ask my parents for anything.

She was just as enthusiastic about her academics off the court, studying Society, Ethics, and Law, minoring in Philosophy and Sports Management, and even getting practical experience by working for a year as an attorney's assistant. “I shadowed a lawyer in family law, which was quite emotional,” Branstine stated.

She would love to study law and have a family of her own after her tennis career. At Wimbledon, though, she has a significant challenge ahead of her in pulling off a big upset.
