Bumrah Can't Do It Alone: Shami's Stern Message to Siraj and Prasidh

Following India's 5-wicket loss in Leeds, Mohammed Shami, an out-of-favor pacer, has clearly urged the Indian bowlers to back Jasprit Bumrah. Since the other bowlers didn't provide Bumrah enough support in the first game, Shami, who was left out of the Test team for the five-match tour of England, claimed that India needs to improve its bowling game.

The English batters were wary of Bumrah in the second innings, and he finished the game without taking a wicket, but in the first innings, Bumrah was spot on, taking five wickets. Nevertheless, other bowlers were unable to apply enough pressure to the hosts in both innings, causing India to lose its defense of a 371-run target and fall behind in the series.

Shami, who was left out of the team, stated that the bowling unit has to speak with Bumrah, rethink their strategy, and make every effort to back the top-ranked Test bowler.

"Other Indian bowlers should speak to Bumrah and learn from him in bowling. They should encourage him and discuss plans with him. We can easily win the game if they back Bumrah. We need to improve our bowling if we discuss the opening game," Shami stated on his YouTube account.

Although the seasoned pacer acknowledged the efforts of Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur, who each picked up two wickets on Day 5, he emphasized that the game was already out of India's reach by the time Thakur made his impact.

"By the time Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna each took two wickets in the second innings, the game was out of India's reach," he continued.

‘Crucial to back Bumrah’

India's batting is on par with England, as seen in the first test, but the bowlers must back Bumrah in order for the team to win games, according to the 34-year-old.

"Everyone says that it's hard to bat in England, but our batters are doing well, and we have to focus more on our bowling and fielding. You have to support Bumrah. With the new ball, it's crucial to grab wickets. It's imperative that someone support Bumrah. We gave up too many simple runs in the first Test, which England won. "We need to figure out how to make our bowling side strong," he said.
