Brutal Backlash for Shamar Joseph After Remarks on Konstas: ‘You’re No Curtly Ambrose’

Pat Cummins led Australia through a new cycle following their loss in the World Test Championship 2023–2025 final against South Africa, with their first Test being an away series against the West Indies. Prior to the first Test in Barbados, both Australia and the West Indies have been engaged in psychological warfare, and the fact that the hosts are also throwing verbal jabs at their opponents is rather unexpected.
Ian Healy, the former wicketkeeper-batter for Australia, has responded rather negatively to Shamar Joseph's remarks regarding opening batter Sam Konstas. "Just look out, that’s all," Shamar Joseph told the Australian youngster in an interview with the media before the opening Test.
Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are not available for Australia's series against the West Indies. Sam Konstas, the young opener who made his debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is prepared to start Australia's batting innings. Following his exploits in the Gabba Test against Australia in January 2024, all eyes are on Shamar Joseph as we approach the high-profile three-match series.
In response to Joseph's remarks to Konstas, Ian Healy told Corey Parker, the co-host of SENQ Breakfast, that the pacer has more important things on his mind than exchanging insults with Sam Konstas.
Since he passed through us at the Gabba, he has experienced a horrible year. Someone told him to just come down and try it, and he got out of his injury bed since he didn't believe he could play with his swollen toe. Then he discovered, "Oh, you can play with pain." Healy said that Shamar had just said to Konstas to "look out and see what is coming" today.
Shamaar, you've given trash all year. Therefore, as I say in the changing room, he needs to get better. He's in big difficulty. "You're not Curtly Ambrose, champ," he said further.

Marnus Labuschagne excluded from the Test squad
Following Marnus Labuschagne's poor performances in the longest format, the Australian selectors have removed him from the team. But Healy thinks the right-hander has it in him to turn things around and regain his place in the starting lineup.
"They're still, you know, recognizing his value, and the selectors expect him to work his way through it. He's only 30 or 31 years old. I would definitely present it as a proposal, Marnus to Glamorgan, and give him plenty of space and time to think things over, Healy stated.
"Now that it's over, you know, the question of if I'll be let go or whether I'll play. For him, that has likely been the last six months. He is now able to breathe. "Now, make sure your method is correct and start playing," he said.
Regarding Konstas, he played his first Test match against India in the Melbourne Test. Virat Kohli got right under his skin right away; in fact, during the first session of play, Kohli even bumped him on the shoulder.
On the first day of the Sydney Test, he got into a contentious argument with Jasprit Bumrah. The first Test of the five-game series will now be played between Australia and the West Indies in Barbados starting on June 25.
