India, July 1 – Deshaun Watson, the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, may be able to play again in the 2025 NFL season, according to a recent announcement made by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com on Sunday (June 29). Watson is still recuperating from the re-torn Achilles injury that necessitated surgery in January of this year.

According to Cabot's statement, Watson could theoretically return to the field in November or December, depending on how quickly his rehabilitation progresses, even if he is still anticipated to miss "a significant portion" of the upcoming season or perhaps skip this one altogether. Whatever the case, he will begin the season on either the Injured Reserve or the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and miss the first four weeks.

Given these remarks, another source also stated that, even if the coaching staff may decide to keep him off the active roster for the time being, he could start team practice in October. With this, Watson may resume playing at his peak level the following season.

At the minicamp, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel said, "He (Watson) has been a guy I've connected with as well, and he's actually a guy I sit by in our O-line meetings, even in our offensive unit meetings," demonstrating how Watson has been actively mentoring him.

I think it's really fantastic that we have five guys in the room who can share their own experiences, as well as Deshaun this morning, who was able to discuss a concept and how he sees it in the red zone. This can significantly alter how you think about the game. Just being able to be around him, nudge him, and ask him a question, whether it's for confirmation or his thought, is super cool. I like him a lot too. Only providing his entire store of knowledge.

Although Watson was chosen as the Browns' starting quarterback this year, his injury has left his position in doubt after his return to the squad. Along with veteran Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, the squad also selected quarterbacks Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the draft this year.

If Watson is unable, Gabriel and Pickett are the most likely candidates to take his place.
