Ben Duckett’s Sharp Dig at Shubman Gill Gets Quick Retaliation

In the current Lord's Test, Ben Duckett of England retaliated against Shubman Gill, the captain of India, for his previous altercation with Zak Crawley. Duckett successfully diverted the Indian batter, who was in good shape, with an ice-cold sledge at the end of Day 4, and the retaliation was immediate.

The partnership between Karun Nair and KL Rahul came to an end when Brydon Carse removed the former for 14 off 33 in the 13th over of India's innings. At that point, Gill entered the game. The 25-year-old was given a cold reception by the England camp, who quickly reminded him of the time when the Indian players attacked Crawley on the third evening, accusing him of wasting time.

Following the first delivery that Gill encountered, the English players could be seen murmuring a few phrases, all aimed at the Indian captain. After that, Duckett approached him directly across from backward point and gave him a try. His statement was picked up by the stump mic: "600 runs and he is done for this series." This chap is satisfied with 600 runs.

Carse returned for this third over a few deliveries later, and he beat Gill with a nip-backer. The ball beat the batter on the inside edge and hit the knee roll, but he hardly moved his feet. Although the umpire declared him out, Gill insisted on a review after speaking with Rahul.

Ball-tracking indicated three reds as Gill left for six runs, and there was nothing on the UltraEdge.

Dravid's record is broken by Gill

Due to his 430-run performance in the second Test in Birmingham, which included a record double century, the Indian captain did, in fact, reach 600 runs in the series following the first innings at Lord's.

Gill surpassed former India captain Rahul Dravid to break the record for the most runs by an Indian batter in a series in England with his six-run innings on Sunday. In the 2002 tour of England, Dravid scored 602 runs, followed by Virat Kohli, who had 593 runs in the 2018 tour.

Root made a century in the first innings at Lord's earlier in the day and decided to score ones and twos to bring England back to life on Day 4, during a brave 67-run partnership with Stokes. However, Washington Sundar bowled him over on 40, and he also dismissed Jamie Smith, who was in great form, for eight, bringing the score to 175-6 at tea.

Following the final wicket of Shoaib Bashir, Sundar concluded with outstanding numbers of 4-22, and India ultimately bowled England out for 192 in the last session.

With India at 58/4, Rahul, who is undefeated on 33, will start the last day of the Test match for India.
