Bangladesh Crushes Pakistan, Fans Question T20 WC Direct Entry

In the first T20I in Dhaka, Bangladesh put on a rare and clinical display to defeat the Pakistani men in green by seven wickets in a match that has historically been under Pakistani dominance. The hosts gave a well-rounded performance on a two-paced surface that required command, led by piercing new-ball bowling and a tenacious counterattack with the bat.
Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, Bangladesh's lightning-quick bowling combination, started the game by applying persistent pressure in the field. Mustafizur's four overs yielded 2/6, but Taskin attacked frequently and early, coming back with statistics of 3/22. Mustafizur, on the other hand, stifled Pakistan's innings.
Their lowest T20I score against Bangladesh, the tourists collapsed for 110 in 19.3 overs as they were shaken and disoriented.
Pakistan's innings never really got going. Half of the team had returned to the pavilion for only 46 runs after the first eight overs. Both Nawaz males, Hasan and Mohammad, as well as Mohammad Haris, captain Salman Agha, and debutant Saim Ayub, were unable to surpass single digits. Just Fakhar Zaman, who scored 44 runs off 34 deliveries, put up a fight.
Pakistan's disorganized performance was best captured by his run-out during a misjudged call with Khushdil Shah. He was given two lives, dropped on four, and then on thirty. Shah (17) and Abbas Afridi (22) managed to push the score into triple figures with a quick 33-run partnership, but it hardly covered up the previous damage.
The chase of Bangladesh got off to a shaky start when Salman Mirza, making his debut, took out both openers with two early strikes. Pakistan sensed a possible rebound at 21/2. However, Parvez Hossain Emon had other plans.
Emon formed a critical relationship with Towhid Hridoy, and together they mounted a strong counterattack that quickly returned Bangladesh to dominance. They targeted Pakistan's spinners and seamers with an aggressive approach, winning the game in just a few overs. Emon anchored the chase with grace, making sure there were no late setbacks, while Hridoy's cameo set the stage.
The six-wicket victory represents a significant victory for Bangladesh over Pakistan in T20Is and sends a powerful message at the start of the series. Haris missed two easy catches, and Pakistan's batsmen struggled to adjust, leaving them to regret their carelessness on the pitch.
From a night that otherwise revealed several gaps, only debutant Mirza came out with praise.
