Backlash for RCB After Bengaluru Celebrations: ‘Celebrating Instead of Preparing?’

Earlier this month, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings in the championship game at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The coveted trophy was finally in the hands of Virat Kohli, the RCB stalwart. Kohli declared that there would be a grand celebration in Bengaluru the following day, as the state of Karnataka had waited too long for the IPL victory, as soon as the title was secured.

Nevertheless, festivities turned awful when a stampede broke out outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, killing 11 RCB supporters. Over 30 individuals suffered injuries. Former India batter Robin Uthappa has weighed in, stating that the loss of life will always overshadow RCB's trophy victory.

RCB declared INR 10 lakh for the families of all those who lost a loved one in the stampede after 11 people died. Nikhil Sosale, the head of revenue and marketing for RCB, was detained as well after the event. On June 12, he was given interim bail but required to turn over his passport.

"The loss of the lives of those involved will forever taint the triumph." "They can't even celebrate the win that they have achieved after so many years, after so much hard work, which is so unfortunate," Uthappa stated on his YouTube channel.

"This is going to ruin it, so you have to feel sorry for the fans and, of course, the players," he said.

RCB over-celebrated? Yes. But, what's the Problem? : r/ipl

"Was extremely furious"

Uthappa, a native of Bengaluru, stated that he was extremely furious when he learned about the stampede. He, along with Madan Lal and others, stated that the victory celebrations might have been organized more effectively.

Earlier, numerous cricket experts commented that the victory celebrations should have been planned more carefully and not hurried.

"It took me almost a day to get over my rage, and I was so furious that I hesitated to post anything on social media." "In the section on rivalries, we were, in a manner of speaking, discussing a small amount of equilibrium, correct? One can see that in the festivities," he remarked.

"You truly want folks to get to know the squad and celebrate with them. To be honest, the city did deserve it, and I do believe it could have been better organized, perhaps by taking a day off to plan the entire affair.

Uthappa also mentioned that from now on, he will be worried whenever there is a game involving the Royal Challengers Bangalore, considering the families who lost loved ones in the stampede.

"The sad part is that every time there's an RCB game, I dread to think about what those families will go through. It simply hurts, dude. "It really, really hurts," Uthappa said.

"I simply believe they didn't have enough time to prepare for it. "In hindsight, carrying it out the very next day was a mistake in judgment," he stated.
