India will be two bowlers short going into the fourth Test in Manchester because the BCCI has announced that Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a left knee injury, while Arshdeep Singh has sustained a left thumb injury. Reddy will return to India right away. This, together with the groin niggle Akash Deep is experiencing, indicates that India's pace bowling attack is significantly weakened.

"Due to a left knee injury, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests. Nitish will return home, and the team hopes he recovers quickly," the BCCI stated in a news statement Monday morning. "Arshdeep Singh has been excluded from the fourth Test against England at Manchester. In Beckenham, at a training session where he was bowling in the nets, he suffered an impact injury to his left thumb. His improvement is being watched by the BCCI Medical Team.

The addition of Anshul Kamboj to the team was confirmed by the statement. Prior to the two unofficial matches against England Lions, Kamboj, a 24-year-old right-arm seamer, was a member of the India A team. He also had four wickets in the second game, in addition to his undefeated 51 in a 149-run partnership with Tanush Kotian.

Unless India wants to consider the Kamboj alternative, Reddy's injury could force them to revert to Shardul Thakur as the medium pacer allrounder in the lineup. Reddy bowled in the second two Tests after Thakur bowled in the first.

Reddy's scores at Lord's were 30 and 13, and he also claimed three wickets. Kamboj has established his reputation as well; last year, he was just the third Indian to ever capture all ten wickets in an innings in the Ranji Trophy, against Kerala.
