BCCI Steps In After Bengaluru Tragedy During RCB Celebrations

The BCCI is attempting to intervene after what was supposed to be a celebratory evening ended in tragedy. The board is contemplating establishing formal rules to govern such occurrences in the future in the wake of the terrible stampede that killed 11 people during the IPL victory celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). On Wednesday night, the crowd surge close to Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium caused widespread public outrage, resulting in state-level intervention and forcing the Indian cricket board to take responsibility for its oversight duties.
In an interview with Cricbuzz, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that the organization will now actively work to establish guidelines for future post-title celebrations throughout the league. "BCCI will have to do something at some point. We cannot be a silent spectator," Saikia stated.

Although the RCB celebration was planned in secret, Saikia acknowledged that its effects cannot be separated from the larger environment of the game. "Although it was a personal matter for RCB, the BCCI is in charge of Indian cricket, and we will work to prevent such occurrences from happening again in the future," he continued.
Calls for accountability and change have grown stronger as a result of the tragedy. The Karnataka government has already started to act by arresting several people and taking disciplinary action against police officers and organizers. Voices from all over the cricket community have raised concerns about crowd management and the rationale behind such large gatherings.
Gambhir responded
A day after the incident, India head coach Gautam Gambhir also weighed in, firmly criticizing public celebrations. "I will keep saying that people's lives are much more important." In a stadium, we can probably hold these roadshows behind closed doors or something similar, and we can be a bit cautious about not conducting them, Gambhir suggested.
I never had much faith in roadshows when I was playing. I have no faith in them now, and I have no faith in them in the future. The life of any individual is more important than winning or having fun. Therefore, these roadshows may not be worth doing if we are either unprepared or unable to manage the audience in this manner.
Saikia claims that the BCCI will soon debate deterrent actions, but the details, such as their structure or timeline, are yet unknown.
