BCCI Criticized by Fans for Moving PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2 from Kolkata After Ahmedabad Rain: ‘Made a Mockery’
6 months ago | 5 Views
As a result of rain delaying the match between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians on Sunday night, the BCCI is now under examination. Rain caused a delay in the start of the game after Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl in cloudy weather. Prior to the game, there was no rain predicted, but the day before, a light drizzle kept the field covered. As players were about to take the field, the rain came at the worst possible time. The weather has thus far taken control of what was predicted to be a knockout blockbuster, with almost two hours lost before a ball might be thrown.
As the wait grew longer, the BCCI's choice to relocate the venue was criticized on social media. According to the original IPL schedule, Kolkata's Eden Gardens was supposed to host both the final and Qualifier 2. However, the new schedule put both matches in Ahmedabad after the league was suspended for a week in early May due to increased military tensions between India and Pakistan.
According to the BCCI announcement for the updated schedule, the IPL Governing Council selected the new playoff locations taking into consideration the weather and other factors. Paradoxically, the weather in Kolkata is still fair as of right now, which has enraged supporters.
The following is how supporters responded:
Due to a higher position in the points standings than the Mumbai Indians, the Punjab Kings will be eligible for the season finale should rain interfere. MI came in fourth in the league stage, while Shreyas Iyer's team ended up on top of the standings with 19 points.
After a commanding victory against the Gujarat Titans on Friday, the Hardik Pandya-led team advanced to Qualifier 2. Before holding Shubman Gill's team to 208/5 in 20 overs, the squad put up a massive score of 228/5.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who defeated Punjab by eight wickets in Qualifier 1 on Wednesday, will face the victors of Qualifier 2 in the championship game.
