Amanjot Kaur Eyes Breakthrough Performance Against England

Chandigarh: Amanjot Kaur, an all-around player, will be in unfamiliar territory when India begins its five-match T20I and three-match ODI series in England on June 28 with the first T20I match at Trent Bridge.
Kaur, a 24-year-old medium-pace bowler and competent lower-order batter from Punjab, would be hoping to adapt to the environment and compete against a strong England team.
With the ICC Women's World Cup only a few months away, Kaur would understand the significance of the series against England, especially considering that she was unable to participate in the whole 2024 घरेलू season and also missed out on the opportunity to join the India T20 World Cup team due to injuries.
Kaur has the chance to demonstrate her ability in both the bowling and batting aspects since Pooja Vastrakar, Kashvee Gautam, and Renuka Thakur are all out with injuries.
Kaur, who is renowned for her all-around abilities in the T20 format, made waves in the most recent Women's T20 Premier League (WPL) with her bowling, sharp fielding, and big-hitting prowess for the Mumbai Indians, who went on to win the tournament.

"She was genuinely upset to have missed out on the T20 World Cup and the domestic season in 2024 because of her back and hand injuries. She felt that she had wasted all her effort in trying to represent India by missing out on these opportunities. However, she later saw other Indian male cricketers in Bangalore and worked on her recovery there to get back in shape. She comprehended the procedure and took her time perfecting it. Her Zirakpur-based coach, Nagesh Gupta, said that she then gave it her all while competing for MI in the WPL.
In January, she returned in the One-Day Challenger Trophy. She hit a 38 off 24 balls in her debut match. She scored 3/40 in nine overs in the following game. Kaur made a statement, even though both of these contributions were in vain. Her performances in the WPL that followed also earned her a spot in the Indian squad for the Tri-Nation Series, which included South Africa, India, and Sri Lanka, the tournament's hosts.
“The selectors' faith in her one-day cricket abilities was evident in this decision. In my opinion, she has excellent batting, fielding, and bowling skills, making her a wonderful three-dimensional cricketer. The Indian squad needs these all-rounders. And with the ODI World Cup approaching, Kaur presents a compelling case for her selection. However, in both the T20I and ODI series, she must now stand up and accept accountability against England. Her coach Gupta said she has a good swing and should perform well in England.
Kaur has also improved on her bowling speed and variations, according to Gupta. She used to bowl between 106 and 108 km/h, but now she regularly hits between 113 and 115 km/h.
India will play Australia in a three-game ODI series in September following the England tour, just before the World Cup. In 2023, Kaur relocated to Punjab in search of more prospects, after having previously captained Chandigarh. Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, had encouraged her to change.
She made her T20I debut in the same year, where she was voted the game's best player. Even at MI, Kaur has enjoyed the same support from Harmanpreet.
"Every captain supports their teammates." That's what Harmanpreet does. Kaur only needs to improve her batting skills and present herself as a well-rounded player. Gupta continued, "She is now fitter and more mature, so she should be able to take advantage of her opportunities and deliver the goods."
