The deciding factor for India in the Edgbaston Test against England was pacer Akash Deep, who came back with 10 wickets, helping the tourists win the second Test by 336 runs and tie the five-match series. India was able to dismiss England for 271 thanks to the right-arm speedster, who took six wickets in the second innings. Due to his workload management, Jasprit Bumrah sat out, and no one gave India a chance of winning 20 wickets. In his absence, though, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj rose to the occasion, and the outcome is evident for all to see.

In his JioHotstar interview following the game, Akash Deep became emotional. In a conversation with Cheteshwar Pujara, Akash Deep disclosed that his older sister was recently diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago.

He devoted his 10-wicket haul to his sister, adding that he is constantly thinking about her.

"I haven't told anybody about this," Maine said. I have cancer in my older sister. Two months ago, it was discovered. She is fine now. Her condition is stable. My performance would make her so happy. The past two months have been really hard for her emotionally. "I dedicate my performance to her," Akash Deep said.

"All I wanted to do with my performance was make her happy," he continued.

When asked what message he would like to convey to his sister, Akash Deep replied, "Behen yeh tumare liye hai. (This is just for you.) When I had the ball in my hands. As your face kept appearing, I was simply thinking about you. My sole goal was to make you happy. All of us support you."

Akash Deep's hard work

Akash Deep was on a roll in the second innings, taking four wickets in the opening over. By dismissing Ben Duckett and Joe Root during the last session of Day 4, he gave India the greatest start he could.

In the first session of Day 5, Akash Deep picked up where he left off, dismissing overnight batsmen Ollie Pope and Harry Brook. The right-arm pacer dominated the game on a lifeless Edgbaston surface, even outperforming the English pacers.

"It's all about focusing on the now. We should just savor this victory at Edgbaston, in my opinion. We performed well in batting, bowling, and fielding. All three departments were excellent. In his conversation with Akash Deep, Akash Deep stated that it's all about living in the now.

By stating that he is not thinking about the forthcoming Test at Lord's, the Indian pacer concluded the discussion. “To be honest, I’m not thinking about the next Test. My strategy would be to bowl in consistent spots if I were to take that Test, Akash stated.

Given the series score of 1-1, the Lord's Test, which begins on Thursday, July 10, has a lot at stake for both India and England.
