After its theatrical run, the much anticipated movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be available to viewers in India on JioHotstar. The release of several significant MCU movies on the platform for Indian audiences preceded this action.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will begin MCU Phase 6

The first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie starring the Fantastic Four is Matt Shakman's The Fantastic Four: First Steps. As the 37th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it marks the beginning of the franchise's sixth phase. Following its worldwide premiere at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025, the movie will be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.

The movie, which takes place on Earth-828, a retro-futuristic world with echoes of the 1960s, offers a novel viewpoint on the famous group. The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, who face off against Ralph Ineson's Galactus, a creature with the ability to destroy whole planets. Shalla-Bal (Julia Garner), the cosmic herald of Galactus, has more than one moniker.

All the details about lead cast that you need to know

His long relationship with director Shakman had an influence on the choice of Pedro Pascal for the role of Reed Richards. The actor emphasized Mister Fantastic's intellect above his physical attractiveness, taking cues from earlier comic book renditions of the character. Reed was described by Shakman as "the most scientifically intelligent person on the planet" after they met.

As Sue Storm goes through the delights of motherhood during the movie, Vanessa Kirby expertly combines emotional intelligence with a maternal arc in her depiction of the character. As Kirby pointed out, she made Sue's character more complicated by including elements of the darker comic plot where she turns into "Malice."

Ben Grimm is represented by Ebon Moss-Bachrach using motion capture. He emphasized the character's integrity and commitment, much as he had done in his prior television portrayal in The Bear. Shakman worked closely with geologists and visual effects artists to film references to real desert rocks in order to make sure the CGI version of the Thing was accurate.

Joseph Quinn made an attempt to portray Human Torch differently from prior depictions of philandering. Conversely, Quinn concentrated on Johnny Storm's self-awareness while allowing him to maintain his flamboyant attitude.

Julia Garner's portrayal of the Silver Surfer also relied heavily on motion capture. Her performance combined the physical and the ethereal, taking cues from surfing and comic book iconography.

The visuals and ensemble cast are lauded by reviewers

The film's early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with reviewers praising its visual aesthetic, ensemble cast, and the manner in which it integrates vintage aspects into the MCU environment. It is said that preliminary work on a sequel has already started.

Following its theatrical run, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be available exclusively on JioHotstar in India. Fans can expect the streaming date to correspond with the worldwide digital release schedule, even if Disney and Marvel Studios haven't given us an exact one yet.
