The first Malayalam film to be released digitally this week is Moonwalk. In several languages, it is now accessible for streaming on OTTplay Premium and JioHotstar.

In addition to Malayalam, it started streaming on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi at midnight on July 8. The film is anticipated to receive the recognition it deserves after its OTT debut, despite the fact that it didn't draw crowds to theaters. It was well-received by viewers for its historical locales and other elements. In addition to bringing back memories of the 1990s, Moonwalk was also predicted to become a cult favorite in the years to come.

Only recently did Mohanlal's recent blockbuster Thudarum and Suraj Venjaramoodu's well-liked Malayalam films Padakkalam and Sharaf U Dheen start streaming on the same service. The Malayalam web series Kerala Crime Files 2 is also available on JioHotstar.

What is the purpose of Moonwalk?

According to the filmmakers, the movie is based on real events. It follows a group of young people who are motivated to emulate their elders' breakdancing after watching Michael Jackson's music videos. Then, Moonwalk's attention turns to these men's efforts to learn this approach. Overcoming all barriers and criticism from their community and family, the boys learn this dance method while going to school or working low-paying jobs. They can also be seen working hard to learn the dance routines in order to participate in an all-Kerala competition. Additionally, it implies that the narrative is set in a little town in the 1980s.

Lijo Jose Pellissery released the movie, which was directed by A K Vinod, in theaters. The majority of the main actors in Moonwalk are newcomers. The primary cast members of Moonwalk are Shersha Sherief, Manoj Moses, Anunath, Rishi Kainikkara, Sreekanth Murali, Siddharth B, Sujith Prabhakar, Nainita Maria, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Arjun Manilal.
