Malayalam film, Moonwalk, is all set to make its digital debut soon. The dance movie will be streaming on JioHotstar from next week.

Moonwalk OTT release date update

When the movie opened in cinemas on May 30, it was praised for its unique perspective on the plot. It has been formally confirmed that Moonwalk will be available on JioHotstar at midnight on July 8. On the same platform, Mohanlal's smash movie Thudarum and Suraj Venjaramoodu's Padakkalam have just begun to stream. Moonwalk is expected to get the respect it merits following its OTT debut, even if it doesn't attract a large crowd to theaters.

Moonwalk's plot and cast details

Based on real events, the film centers around a group of young people who are influenced by Michael Jackson and attempts to master his break dance style. The trailer shows that these men are able to learn this dance technique despite any obstacles they face in life, such as attending school or working odd jobs. Additionally, they are seen putting in a lot of effort to learn the dance moves in preparation for a competition. It also indicates that the plot takes place in a small town in Kerala in the 1980s.

The film was released in theatres by renowned filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery and marks A K Vinod's directorial debut. Through a group of young people, Moonwalk brings a new spirit to the film industry, Lijo had said in a promotional video. The majority of Moonwalk's main actors are newcomers. The primary cast of Moonwalk includes Shersha Sherief, Anunath, Rishi Kainikkara, Siddharth B, Manoj Moses, Sujith Prabhakar, Nainita Maria, Sreekanth Murali, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Arjun Manilal. 

The screenplay was co-written by A K Vinod, Mathew Varghis, and Sunil Gopalakrishnan. Moonwalk has been funded by Listin Stephen and Jasni Ahamad under the Magic Frames' banner.
