The Malayalam film Asthra, which was released in theaters in 2023, has now been available online for over a year. The main character of this investigative thriller, now available for streaming on Manorama Max, is played by Amith Chakalakkal.

When Did Asthra Become Available on Over-the-Top Streaming?

When the film was initially released in December 2023, it did not have a strong box office reception or attract a sizable crowd to theaters. At 12 a.m. on July 18, Asthra began streaming on the popular Malayalam OTT platform. As of this Friday, no other Malayalam movies have been made available online, making this a fascinating picture to see this weekend.

On the same streaming service, you may soon watch Anaswara Rajan's Vysanasametham Bandhumithradhikal and Dhyan Sreenivasan's Super Zindagi. The platform will also include Samshayam, which features Vinay Forrt and Sharaf U Dheen, beginning on July 24. Currently, Manorama Max has Mr. and Mrs. Bachelor. Last week saw the OTT debuts of Detective Ujjwalan and Narivetta. Detective Ujjwalan is available on Netflix, whereas Tovino Thomas's hard-hitting thriller Narivetta is available on both Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium.

Asthra's plot and cast information

The majority of the movie takes place in the Wayanad district's Sulthan Bathery neighborhood. Within a 48-hour period, two police officers were murdered by an unknown violent criminal organization in ominous circumstances. They draw an arrow-shaped sign on the wall at the crime scene using blood. The movie focuses primarily on Joshy Mathew's investigation of the murder case using a variety of approaches in an attempt to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the motive behind it.

Other notable roles in Asthra, which is directed by Azaad Alavil, are played by Suhasini Kumaran, Senthil Krishna, Sudheer Karamana, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Renu Sounder, Jayadushyanth, Srikanth Murali, Meghanathan, and Neena Kurup. Prem Kallat and Prenand Kallat supported the production of this film, which was co-written by Jiju Raj and Vinu K Mohan. The music and background score for Asthra were created by Mohan Sithara.
