With Max, which premiered in theaters for Christmas 2024, Tamil director Vijay Kartikeyaa won the hearts of Kiccha Sudeep fans by giving them a really entertaining feast. After the movie's box office success, there were rumors of a future collaboration between Sudeep and Vijay, but the filmmaker stated that the decision of whether to make a sequel to Max would be up to producer Kalaipulli S Thanu and the actor. Additionally, Vijay claimed to have a completed script for a picture outside of the Max universe.

Vijay Kartikeyaa made the official announcement of the Sudeep movie on July 5.

Although it's with Vijay for Satya Jyoti Films, the Sudeep film that will be revealed on July 5, 2025, is with him, according to sources. The banner previously stated that it would support director Cheran's film starring Sudeep, with Srinidhi Shetty, who is well-known for her roles in KGF and HIT3, playing the lead opposite the Kannada celebrity. They will now support Vijay's film with Sudeep, which is not set in the Max universe.

In fact, it remains to be seen if Sudeep will return to play Arjun Mahakshay, given that there were rumours of discord between Thanu and the actor over the delay of the Max release. Sudeep had wanted the film in theatres closer to his birthday in September, but it eventually came only for Christmas, clashing with Upendra’s UI. It remains to be seen if Srinidhi will still be on board, now that there’s a change of filmmaker and story.

Sudeep, meanwhile, is currently on a schedule break from his film Billa Ranga Baashaa, directed by Anup Bhandari, who made Vikrant Rona with the actor. The film, backed by Primeshow Entertainment, the makers of Hanu-Man, is an ambitious big-budget film set 200 years in the future, the world building of which is the biggest challenge, according to Anup.

The superstar, who had announced his intention to return to direction with a film called King Kichcha, to be produced by KRG Studios, is yet to take the project forward. He is currently committed to Billa Ranga Baashaa, his untitled project with Vijay and the new season of Bigg Boss Kannada, which is expected to begin in October or November, after Kichcha Sudeep wraps up a film.
